Why 2026 Couples Are Downsizing to Micro Weddings in Cape May

More couples are looking at their guest list this year and asking a simple question: who do we truly want to celebrate with? At Willow Creek Winery, that question has shaped a lot of our 2026 wedding conversations. A smaller guest count doesn’t mean a smaller celebration. It means more time with the people who matter and a day that feels like yours instead of a production to manage.

Willow Creek Winery’s micro weddings in Cape May host 25 to 75 guests for a four hour traditional seated reception, or up to 100 guests for a three hour cocktail style reception. Both options include vineyard ceremony spaces, the Rosé Room for getting ready, and cake cutting. Weddings carry a minimum wine purchase, and outside catering is not permitted.

We host weddings of every size here, from grand affairs to close, quiet gatherings among the vines. If you’re leaning toward the smaller side this year, here’s what that actually looks like with us.

Micro Weddings at Willow Creek Winery

A smaller guest list still gets the vineyard experience here. From your ceremony spot to your last glass of wine, every detail scales to fit a close, intimate gathering while still feeling complete and thoughtfully planned. Here’s what couples planning a micro wedding at Willow Creek can expect.

A Guest List That Still Feels Full

Our Intimate Wedding option is built for parties of 25 to 75 guests if you want a traditional seated celebration, or up to 100 guests if you prefer a cocktail-style reception. Either way, the vineyard doesn’t feel empty around a smaller crowd. It just feels like your people, gathered close.

Traditional or Cocktail Style, You Choose the Shape

The Traditional package runs four hours and includes one displayed hors d’oeuvre, three butler-served hors d’oeuvres, a salad course, your choice of two plated entrées plus a vegan option, and a coffee and tea station to close the meal.

If you’d rather keep guests up and mingling, the Cocktail Style package runs three hours with two displayed hors d’oeuvres, six butler-served selections, a salad display, and the same coffee and tea station. Both packages include cake cutting as part of the wedding experience.

One Setting, Every Part of the Day

Your Wedding ceremony can take place on the Winemaker’s Patio, a brick courtyard right beside the cocktail hour and reception space. From there, guests move to the vineyard bar patio for cocktail hour, then into our beautifully crafted post-and-beam ballroom for dinner, blending rustic charm with elegant vineyard surroundings. Nobody has to travel far, and the transition from vows to celebration happens without a long gap in between.

The Rosé Room Before You Say I Do

Getting ready shouldn’t feel rushed. The Rosé Room, our bridal dressing room, is available from eight in the morning until the beginning of cocktail hour on your wedding day, giving you plenty of time to settle in before the celebration begins.

Details Your Guests Will Talk About

Tables are dressed in floor-length ivory damask linens, paired with wooden cross-back chairs, and each table seats up to ten guests comfortably. You’ll also have access to the grounds for photos, including the vineyard rows, the gardens, and a life-sized Alice in Wonderland chessboard tucked into the property, a favorite backdrop couples keep coming back to for their portraits.

What to Know About Bar and Wine

Weddings here carry a minimum wine purchase requirement, generally one case for every forty guests plus one favor bottle for every two guests of legal drinking age. If your group wants beer or liquor, you’re welcome to bring it in from a designated local distributor. Our trained bartenders staff the bar either way, and any outside alcohol is secured after the event for pickup the next day. Outside catering isn’t permitted, and amplified music outdoors wraps by eleven at night.

Conclusion

Whether you’re picturing seventy-five guests or three hundred fifty, Willow Creek Winery is built to hold the celebration you’ve been envisioning, not just the day that’s easiest to plan. A micro wedding here still gets the vineyard views, the Rosé Room mornings, and the same attentive team, just scaled to a guest list that feels personal. Big or small, the vines don’t change. Only the size of the celebration does.

If a smaller wedding is on your mind for 2026, reach out to our events team to talk through dates and details, or request our Intimate Wedding Guide to see the full package side by side. We’d love to help you shape the day around the guests who matter most to you.
